The orphanage has been working towards self-sufficiency for a while now. They grow their vegetables in the garden they cultivate themselves, and get eggs from the chicken they take care of. "Its dry season and we have
started cultivating our garden ready to plant vegetables through
irrigation. The electricity connection you did is
helping us. We now have a top tank and a pump from the bore hole" -
Christopher (the center's manager)
our efforts translate into small but very important gains for the children of the orphanage.
unfortunately only a few of them have been sponsored and are attending school, but because of other initiatives we are launching, we are also able to support education in the center.
we are not always able to maintain the two educator's salary throughout the year, but books have been bought so the children can continue their courses even when the teachers cannot be there.
